ANNOTATION: Steven Jay Gould misunderstood
I'd like to take this chance to comment on Mr. David Nakamura's
statement about his asking Principia Cybernetic if they read
Goulds work.
I'd like to point out to Nakamura that he should not rely on Gould
as much as he might already does. Gould is an evolutionist, true
but he has proposed his Puntuated Equilibrium theory with alot of
problems. But what he says basically is that during his graduate
studies he found that certain species had remained constant for
millions or so years and then maybe in a period of 100,000 evolved.
This might sound like a contradiction to evolution which says that
evolution has been slow and gradual over billions of years. But
this is nothing new to evolutionist because they have admitted,
demonstrated, and know that the rates of evolution vary.
I have found that many creationists try to use Gould's P.E. theory
to disprove evolution and to say that it actually supports what
creationist have been saying, which is the fossil record does not
support evolution. (I'm not saying that Nakamura is a creationist)
However 100,000 years is short in evolution years but evolutionist
agree is plenty of time for species to evolve. I just want to make
sure that Gould not be taken/accepted without knowing that some of
his work still needs alot of testing.
