The "critical scientific method" can no more determine immortality than it can measure how many miles it is to heaven. It's a silly approach to the study of life. Rather, it is as your article suggests a matter of the spirit.
To the spiritually dead and the symbiotically paralyzed immortality does indeed seem pale and abstract. It's also unobtainable. A "Frankeinstein" arrangement as suggested on your site "cybernetic immortality" would then be an appealing haven. That is if you want to spend eternity connected to machinery. I'm sure the devil will be happy to arrange it. I don't think your notions are worth bothering your successors with. Your control schemes are troublesome enough while you are alive, can't you give us some peace after you are gone?
Old religious systems are indeed losing their influence. That's a good thing. I don't think cybernetic philosophies have had much to do with this change. Rather it may be some religions are so primitive regarding physical science that they are no longer believable.
Not accepting Jesus as leader and teacher contributes to this religious decline. Obviously acceptance would mean fewer religions. Not a bad idea. Then there are religions that revise and adulterate his teachings. Whatever, don't blame religions for lack of enthusiasm. It's a personal endeavor, so unplug and meditate.
