ANNOTATION:
LIFE IS ITS OWN MEANING
When we ponder the question: What is the meaning of life?, we often forget to envisage the context in which the question arises. If by this question we wish to know the meaning of life in general, without reference to the specific of our own subjective experience, then we must include the notion of "existence" before and beyond life. To my way of thinking, given that the universe of universes must be infinite (see my Social Psychological Implications of the Concept of Infinity), life is "existence" experiencing physics. My great forebear-in-thought, Sir Baruch Benedict Spinoza, made some very thorough arguments in favor of non-superiority-centric pantheism. In effect, he was the then European man's American Indian...in that he thought of a great combined spirit, of which each and every living organism is a manifestation of. To my way of thinking, we all are part of this combined soul, Great Spirit, made of no thing but of itself, a non-physical entity. Explaining why we cannot ever prove its existence physically!!! Physics in of itself has no meaning, for it is without self-reference, without consciousness....cold and devoid of emotion. But a "blob" of soul, of the Great Spirit, can enter into a plasmic mass and begin to ever-so-slightly "manipulate" physics into super-organic forms, first as single-cell life-forms and then, by the processes of evolution, into multi-cellular entities. Each as diverese as the circumstances, internal and external, allow.... And so, given this model of evolutionary-self-creation we have LIFE!!! Life is the way by which soul or spirit experiences physicality!!! The soul or spirit not combining with physics cannot experience physical existence... And so, the meaning of life is LIFE ITSELF!!! We search in vain for an ulterior purpose or motive, whilst we waste our time not exploring the full measure of LIFE AS IT CAN AND SHOULD BE...: FREE YET CONSTRAINED, TOLERANT YET CAUTIOUS, LOVING YET RESPECTFUL.... SEXUAL YET MUTUAL.... Sex and related erotic-sensuality are the penultimate art of LIFE, even when seemingly strictly done as a process of procreation. LIFE IS MEANT TO BE LIVED, not destroyed by its own self.... And as regards our very own form of life, the mammalian, higher primate species....we are supposed to be strongly social, semi-monogamous (meaning semi-polygamous...i.e. having, if possible, a stable partner and yet having the relative freedom to enjoin others), capable of violence in situations where the balances required for healthy living have been lost, and yet capable of restoring the balances needed to regain and maintain pro-social behavior... SO, there you have it, NO GOD CREATOR/DESTROYER, NO INTENTIONAL ILL WILL, JUST IGNORANCE AND MENTAL ILLNESS, NO SENSE IN WASTING OUR TIME TRYING TO FIND LINNEAR REASONS FOR THE MEANING OF LIFE, NO NEED TO DENY EACH INDIVIDUALS RIGHT TO DEFINE THE PURPOSE OF THEIR SPECIFIC, SUBJECTIVE LIFE IN RELATION TO THE GENERAL, OBJECTIVE PURPOSE.... Finally, my advice: THINK ABOUT INFINITY (IN ITS UTMOST FORMS), LAUGH A LOT, LIVE LONG AS POSSIBLE HEALTHILY, SEEK PEACE AND PROSPERITY FOR ALL YOUR FELLOW BEINGS.
