ANNOTATION:
assumptions

In the refutation, "Arguments Against the Existance of God" it states: "Because evil exists..." This is an apriori assumption. It is an equally valid argument to state, "Because God exists, therefore..." (This is the same argument that the Bible makes, only in reverse). One may reply, "But I see the evidence of evil every day, surrounding me." I can counter with, "And I see the evidence of God every day, surrounding me." The best logical argument I have found in support of the existance of God is found in the C.S. Lewis work, "Mere Christianity". Obviously I cannot present all the ins and outs of the logic in this small space, but the gist of it is based in the idea of the origins of a "moral code". Why is it that all humans almost without an exception have a concept of "fairness"? And why is it that there is an accepted "norm" of behavior that is intercultural? For example, there is not a culture on earth that "values" murder. There are no cultures on earth that make it an important cultural value to steal from each other. True there are INDIVIDUALS that learn this from habits, but there are no CULTURAL (i.e. meta-individuals) that place in high esteem immoral behavior. Why is that? C.S. Lewis states that the image of God is resident in Man, by virtue of his creation. This is the indellible mark that God placed in Man from creation. Notice I did not say that _God is resident in Man_. That is only accomplished on an individual basis, on God's behest. The existance of God, and his placing of a moral code, a collective "conscience", if you will, constitutes fair proof of the existence of God. For further reading, see C.S. Lewis, "Mere Christianity"

REPLY: The Aztecs?

The Aztecs valued ritualistic sacrifice as a culture, and because of that value, no one in their culture questioned it... that is why no culture values murder... christianity (and those other religions like it) destroyed them all. People cannot see that there are many different REASONS for not having murder be good in the culture, not always because it is morally wrong... what about HONOR, which sounds strangely like the DEADLY SIN of PRIDE... hmmm... well... I'm just some punk 'athiest' who doesn't want to see the light of god... so you can just ignore me... (btw, I really hope I'm wrong and you actually consider what I've said) Anyway, Peace Out, I'm done with this crap about cultural beliefs perpetuating themselves (Barbarians believed in what was basically murder).. Oh wait, that is another reason for the cultures not having murder as an ideal... IT DOESN'T ALLOW FOR THEIR SURVIVAL after they have consumed all the 'good' civilizations, because then they destroy each other... but anyway... I'm done. Later.
