Notes on Infinity

Notes on Infinity
by Erhmon Forrest*

Infinity: The “limitless” which includes all things without end.

We cannot conceptualize infinity because to conceptualize means to encompass or enclose in meaning. This cannot be done with infinity. We can however conceptualize the fact that infinity is beyond conception. This saves a lot of time and useless thought and talk.

Our immediate physical space/time existence is part of infinity. If you could travel from where you are now in any single direction at unlimited speed and not subject to the laws of space/time physics you would still never reach the end of existence. This is one of the great and really cool, paradoxes of infinity. Our world is real and nitty gritty and yet is part of infinity which is all things without end.

We should avoid word combinations like “the infinite” as it implies that which is not of infinity and there is nothing which is not of infinity.

There are not infinite possibilities there is only infinite existence. All [in the infinite, limitless sense] objects, events, occurrences [the list is also infinite] exist now and in any given moment. The old saying that “if you can imagine it, it must be so” is not correct. Actually it [meaning all things] is so, now in this moment. It doesn’t need our imagining it to be. It is interesting that we speak of infinity in human, space/time terms when infinity must include modes of being which we cannot even imagine as we base all our imagining on what we know.

Infinity extends without end in all directions such as time and space therefor infinity is not a mathematical concept. As presented here infinity is “the limitless” which includes all things without end. The idea of adding, subtracting or other mathematical manipulations involving infinity is a contradiction in terms. The fact that a concept “called” infinity has proven useful in the worlds of mathematics and for practical purposes should not confuse us as the the proper use of the term.

There, is in a sense, only one moment. Since all things [infinite existence] exist simultaneously it seems that there is no need for space/ time. All things simply are, now, period. Yet, here we are, living in a journey through space and time and having a pretty good time of it somehow.

But wait, as we are of infinity which includes all things without end infinity of course includes the existence of space/ time, the big bang, the little bang, God, not God, the supernatural, the naturally natural, rap music, Lawrence Welk, little green men from Mars and of course zinglfatternat, wumpernosters, tubloids, jrrnocks, etc., etc.. So it seems that we end with the fact that having everything exist is the same as having nothing exist.

Which brings me to the next point[s?]. We have no idea what exists and are physically incapable of being in the present moment much less predicting the future. So far as we can tell up to now the only ways we have of perceiving “reality” are through our senses. The body being an electro-biological entity takes time to process information as the senses receive it, send it to the brain, and the brain organizes it into some sort of coherent thought. In fact if we consider our own thought processes we see that having a thought is not the same as understanding that thought. This process also take time. In terms of our perception of the “here and now” we will always be behind.

To make matters even more interesting not only does our line of space/ time exist but at every moment an infinite number of variations of our space/ time line exist in infinite variation and repetition. Given infinity in which to work, they must. Since we cannot know “the present” much less “the future” we have no way of knowing which time/ space line we occupy. In everything we do we depend entirely on a future predicted on the past we think we remember.

CONCLUSIONS: none, the adventure continues-------------------------------
