ANNOTATION: Immortality Through Community
Subsuming biological lifespan is not new. It has always been subsumed through participation in community: we are born into a living heritage and in the conduct of our lives shape the future of that living heritage. This I find a more natural, accessible, and coevolutionary approach to immortality than the cybernetic. Thanks.
Author: Kay Mycroft Date: Jan 27, 1999REPLY: Immortality through reproduction
I believe that immortality can already be achieved. Our genes and
DNA are kept alive be reproduction. Therefore a part of ourselves
continues to survive after our death. Surely this is the
definition of Immortality? -The idea that one can live forever?
What are we, if we are not a structure, the blueprint of which is
DNA? If our DNA is passed on, we still live. -And perhaps our
comments, our beliefs, if passed on, make us immortal also.
